Originally from Singapore, the Paris-based designer started as an assistant at Emanuel Ungaro; in 1997 he was chosen to be artistic director of the house of Balmain ready-to-wear collections; his debut collection was met with much criticism ending with a termination of contract. Nonetheless, his solo collections have been extremely successful; with his tailored-cut designs and minimalist feature Andrew Gn's designs are feminine, enticing, together with glorious colors, luxurious fabrics, East-meets-West aesthetics, floral embellishments, cashmere and embroidery.
