Floral dresses, maxi skirts and military-inspired fashion items are all trends that London Fashion Week’s designers were happy to embrace. During this particular fashion week it seems like yet another trend was added to the list: the black fashion trend.
While Moschino Cheap & Chic, Antoni & Alison and Matthew Williamson preferred a colorful direction for next fall, other brands and fashion designer went back to the old, beautiful, mysterious and sexy black designs.
Stella McCartney
McCartney’s black outfits were very traditional this collection. Black business suit, a black military-inspired coat and two pyjama-like black suits were the notable items. Fall 2012, according to McCartney, is going to be dramatic, precise and simple. Just like black fashion.
Mulberry
Emma Hill, Mulberry’s creative director, decided to soften their black designs with colorful prints and African elements. However, they also showcased a lot of 100% black designs, including black feather coats, maxi and midi dresses and black leather pieces. After watching Mulberry’s Fall 2012 collection, it became very clear – this is going to be a clean and sophisticated Fall.
Corrie Nielsen
Corrie Nielsen worked for six years as the bespoke tailor for Vivienne Westwood before launching her own label. Nielsen’s Fall 2012 collection is basically a combination between Westwood’s unusual lines and homage for Scottish heritage. Apart from Scottish motives, models were wearing many black dresses, skirts and suits. Puffy sleeves were also very notable motives in this collection.

Daks
Daks’ collection included elegant and simple maxi black dresses as well as black suits and coats. Though it is a fall fashion, the designers chose soft and loose fabrics that created sexy silhouettes and left heavy and cumbersome designs for another time.
John Rocha
If you like wearing black feathers, John Rocha’s Fall 2012 collection is the perfect one for you. Black color ruled on Rocha’s runway, introducing some very interesting combinations between feathers, lace and black leather. Most beautiful were the feather coats and the sexy lace dresses, which managed to create a softened sexy look.
Maria Grachvogel
Maria Grachvogel’s fashion vision for Fall 2012 mainly includes clean and simple lines. Among her khaki, camel, blue and orchid dresses, black items got much attention. Maxi and midi dresses with bat sleeves and delicate accessories created a sophisticated though simple look.
Vivienne Westwood Red Label
You can’t end a feature about the black fashion trend during London Fashion Week without mentioning Vivienne Westwood! This unpredictable (and we mean unpredictable) designer presented a beautiful and sexy black leather suit on her runway as well as black tweed jackets and floppy slip mini dresses. Though this was a very unique show, black items were relatively rare on Westwood’s runway and that’s what was so special about them.
Stella McCartney's flash-mob fashion
Black fashion is always around. It seems like this color will never go out of fashion! So whether you define yourselves as fashionistas or you just like to look good in what you are wearing, black is back and is going to make you look super trendy next fall.
