By now you may be used to the star-studded appearances and fabulous red carpet fashion at the Cannes Film Festival, but don’t get too comfortable--its only getting better and better from here.

FashionTV highlights the fashion forward looks and celeb sightings at the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival for Day 3, 4, and 5!

There’s always that one great animated flick that makes its way the Cannes Film Festival screen at the Palais de Festivals et des Congres de Cannes where the movies are shown for the invite-only crowd.  Last year, at the 64th annual Cannes Film Festival, it was Kung Fu Panda 2, which brought out Angelina Jolie, Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman and more for red carpet appearances.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted Premiere

On Day 3 of the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival, it was time for Madagascar 3 to do the same.  The animated film about a group of wild animals joining the circus, is voiced by actors like Chris Rock, Martin Short, Jessica Chastain, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer and Ben Stiller.  The actors definitely got into their roles, but so did the photographers and fans who watched them on the red carpet on Day 3.  The onlookers wore rainbow colored clown wigs, imitating one of the cartoon characters in the movie.

Fashion was top notch at the red carpet premiere that night, where Jessica Chastain and Jada Pinkett Smith stunned in two very different looks. Jessica Chastain was regal in a beaded Armani Prive strapless gown complete with Old Hollywood-esque inspired waves in her hair.  Jada Pinkett Smith, on the other hand, was more va-va voom and begging to be noticed in orange Atelier Versace from the Spring 2012 collection.  One must have a toned figure to pull of this gown and Will Smith’s wife certainly has an enviable one.  The gown is embellished and has a gold metal crescent accenting the bodice.  Also at the premiere, workout guru Jane Fonda and her new red carpet BFF Paz Vega, both of them stunning in their couture gowns.  You’d never guess that Jane Fonda is 74-years old with how effortlessly she pulls off the red-sequined Roberto Cavalli gown.  Paz Vega wows in this eye-catching Stephane Rolland gown from Spring 2012. The gown is black and white with a feather train and a keyhole bodice just above the gold waistband.  Finally, it couldn’t get any better than it did with the feathered Marchesa gown worn by Naomi Watts.

Once Upon A Time in America - Gucci Film Foundation Premiere

Every year, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini co-hosts the Gucci Film Foundation’s restoration gala, which celebrates a newly restored film.  This year, it was Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America.  The red carpet premiere at the Cannes Film Festival brought out notables like Robert De Niro, Jennifer Connelly, James Woods and Gucci owner Francois-Henri Pinault, but it also brought out fashionistas like Salma Hayek, Monaco royal Charlotte Casiraghi, who is the current face of the Gucci “Forever Now” campaign.  Many of the celebs wore Gucci Premiere, which debuted in 2010, but it was Salma Hayek who got everyone excited in her beaded chocolate brown Gucci Premiere gown with chiffon skirt.  Casiraghi wore a forest green silk georgette halter neck Gucci gown with ruffles around the cleavage and skirt.  Actress Gemma Arterton also stunned in gun metal shaded Gucci.

Lawless - Photocall

Madagascar 3 wasn’t the only movie Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain was promoting at Cannes.  She also stars in the action thriller Lawless, alongside Shia LaBeouf and Mia Wasikowska.  At the jury photocall the day after the Madagascar 3 premiere, Chastain chose to wear an Herve L. Leroux dress with a striped top and black pencil skirt bottom. It was just the right amount of oomph for such an occasion.  Mia Wasikowska was much more colorful, choosing a bright printed Prada dress with cap sleeves.  Who wore it better?

Lawless - Premiere

The two fashionistas of the film stunned again with gorgeous red carpet gowns for the premiere of Lawless that night.  Jessica Chastain chose Gucci Premiere for the occasion, opting for a gold embellished gown.  Wasikowska’s gown was more downplayed, though the deep purple had an effect.  She chose a fairly minimal J. Mendel gown in plum with draped sleeves and a V-neck.

During the Cannes Film Festival, actor Sean Penn was in town to actively raise money for Haiti relief alongside model Petra Nemcova and director Paul Haggis. They want to make sure that the world remembers Haiti and doesn’t let it fall to the wayside, especially after its devastating earthquake.   Also on hand at Cannes, action star Jackie Chan with Laura Weissbecker, the actress he handpicked for a role in his latest flick Chinese Zodiac, where he is also a director.  It’s been said to be his last action star role, but what a way to go for an actor who’s been in at least 50 films.

The 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival

Celebrating the movies, the Cannes Film Festival began in 1946 as a way to promote the development of cinema and celebrate its success on an international scale.  While film festivals happen all over the world, Cannes is by far the most prestigious and the one with most acclaim.  Each film festival garners top celebs who wow in high-end designer clothing at red carpet events for movie screenings.  Each film festival also has a jury which gives out awards for the best films including the highly coveted Palme D’Or or “Golden Palm” for the best film at Cannes.  This year’s jury consists of actors like Ewan MacGregor and Diane Kruger, but also fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, who is the first designer ever on a Cannes panel.
