Daphne Groeneveld- The Enchanting Dutch Runway Star | FashionTV's Model of the Week
This Dutch born beauty was accidentally scouted at the age of 15, but she quickly learned to strut on some of the most prestigious catwalks in the world. She learned how to dance from Madonna, strongly admires Lara Stone, and we believe she still has a lot left in her. Daphne Groevnveld is our model of the week.
Like a typical teenage girl, Daphne Groenveld took a shopping trip to the mall with her mother one day. Unlike a typical teenage girl, a model scout noticed her and immediately and instantly knew the young Dutch model had a chance at greatness. Lucky for us, this scout’s intuition wasn’t wrong.
Fashion magazines, top editors, and designers alike instantly noticed Daphne Groenveld’s unique look and innate talent. She was noted as a rising star in the fashion industry and has gotten to work with the best designers and photographers.
Rocking the Runway
Daphne Groenveld first stepped on a major catwalk in 2010, as she made her debut at the fall Emporio Armani show in Milan Fashion Week. The same season, Daphne also walked for Versus, Giorgio Armani, and Hogan. A short time afterwards, she modeled for Givenchy’s cruise collection in New York and Givenchy’s Couture presentation in Paris.
In the fall 2011 Fashion Week season the Dutch model truly became a star. She opened shows for top designers, including Herve Leger, Calvin Klein, Jason Wu, and Vera Wang. Groenveld closed for Roberto Cavalli, Emanuel Ungaro, and Rue de Mail, which is an honor designers save for their favorite model.
Throughout her career, Groenveld has graced the catwalks of many top designers and brands, including Marc Jacobs, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Donna Karan, Lanvin, Fendi, Chanel, Prada, and Etro.
Cover Girl
The Dutch beauty has starred in many prominent editorials and covers. One of her most memorable cover appearances was when she was photographed alongside designer Tom Ford for the cover of French Vogue. At that point, Groenveld’s resume included only one year as a professional model, but it definitely had a great influence on her future career.
At the start of 2011, Daphne posed for top photographer Mario Sorrenti for a French Vogue editorial. Later that year, she was shot for a Vogue Italy cover by Steven Meisel. Sorrenti phtographed Groenveld once more in August 2011 for the cover of Vogue Japan.
Apart from her stunning Vogue covers, Daphne has been photographed for V, i-D, Love, and Numero magazines.
Ad Star
Regardless of her young age, Daphne Groenveld has already partaken in several prominent ad campaigns. In 2010 she became the face of Miu Miu, and received dancing lessons from Madonna herself for the campaign video.
In 2011, she starred in a Givenchy campaign alongside Mariacarla Boscono, and was also photographed for a Louis Vuitton ad.
Daphne is also the face of Calvin Klein’s “Sheer Beauty“ fragrance.
Fashion Forward
According to Daphne Groenveld, Lara Stone is one of her favorite models. With this stunning top model for a muse, we believe the blond Dutch beauty has countless catwalks, campaigns, and worldwide success ahead of her.
