Daria Strokous- The multi-talented Russian “It” model | FashionTV’s Model of the Week

Posted on 23rd March 2012 | Model of the Week

From modeling, to acting, to photography, Daria Strokous is one multi-talented model who believes that being busy brings out the best in her. With magnetizing ad-campaigns for Jil Sander, Prada, and Louis Vuitton, and a fully-booked Fashion Week schedule, it seems like the title “Rising Star” perfectly suits her.

Daria Strokous truly is a star in the fashion industry. She stuns on top designer catwalks, opens and closes for prestigious shows, poses for the best fashion photographers, and is constantly ranked at the top of It-model lists.

Born in Moscow Russia on September 1990 and raised in Benin, Africa until she was 5 years old, the 180 cm, blond and blue eyed beauty has everything going for her. Her stunning looks and perfect measurements instantly drew the attention of top modeling agencies and her path to a successful modeling career was instantly clear.

Rocking the Runway

In September of 2007, Strokous made her runway debut in none other than the Prada and Marni shows in Milan Fashion Week. Since then, her modeling career sky-rocketted and she set new modeling records season after season. In February 2011, she opened the Spring shows for Jil Sander, Alberta Ferretti, Y-3, and J. Mendel and later on closed for Alberta Ferretti, Y-3, Jil Sander, and MaxMara in their Fall shows. Whether she’s opening shows, closing them, or simply walking in-between, Strokous is without a doubt one of the most booked models during the Fashion Week seasons.

Cover Girl

Daria Strokous has been on the cover of countless fashion magazines over the past couple of years; among them, W, Vogue, Marie Claire, and Elle. These covers and editorials have made her name one of the hottest and most popular in the world of fashion. Nowadays, it is almost impossible to spot a runway that she is not on.

Ad Star

Strokous has also taken part in several popular ad campaigns. In 2010 she became the face of both D&G and Prada. One year later she starred in the Jil Sander campaign and appeared in both its F/W and S/S ads. She has also posed for noted photographer Willy Van der Perre for the wonderful Jil Sander mobile phone campaign. However, the ad campaigns didn’t stop there. In the beginning of 2012, Strokous booked ads for Jil Sander, Alberta Ferretti, and Louis Vuitton. In the magnificent Louis Vuitton campaign, Strokous appeared in a candy-colored spread alongside model Kati Nescher and was shot by the great Steven Meisel.

Daria has told FashionTV that if she could choose between photoshoots and runway shows, she would definitely pick the former. For her, shows are enjoyable, but she prefers the relaxed atmosphere on a set much more.

Fashion Forward

As we said before, Daria strokous is a very multi-talented woman. She has a passion for photography and has even appeared in the big screen film, Contagion, alongside Hollywood stars, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Marion Cotillard. But don’t let her good looks fool you! Daria’s biggest dream is to one-day land the role of a villain. On an interview with FashionTV, she explained that her interest in villainous characters stems from the complex and interesting identity linked to the evil role, whereas good characters are simply predictable and ordinary.

Strokous also plans to study photography, and hopefully in a few years time to publish a book of backstage photographs from the shows she has participated in. With a wildly successful career, big dreams, and many plans for the future, we are certain that Daria Strokous has nowhere to go but up!

Last season, Daria Strokous was ranked #7 on Fashiontv First Face list. What will be her rank this season?
