Theme: Doomsday

The Look: Young Dutch designer and emerging talent Steffie Christiaens chose iridescent fabrics and neutral tones for the runway this season as she presented her ethereal, Doomsday-inspired collection for SS13. Models took to the runway shoeless, set against the backdrop of an underwater scene, wearing a combination of flat and boxy silhouettes, some architecturally structured, in pastel hues of ice blue, pale rose, apricot, silvers and black.

Designer Christiaens presents a feminine line by draping, enveloping, and futurist tailoring: the idea being that the women has put on her best outfit as she waits for the end of the world. Cropped shell tops, shortened sleeve jackets, silk blouses and trousers, pencil skirts with graphic prints and sleeveless cardigans are amongst the collections signature looks this season. While a chain motif adorning cuffed bracelets and sunglasses cords add a reminder of the coming sentence. A Black widow-esque hat and veil lightly conceal a chaste bikini, appearing as though the model is mourning her future. An elegant and feminine collection, with a somber twist for Spring.

Hair & Makeup: Defined arched eyebrows; peachy dewy skin tones; slicked back drop-pony hair with French-plait detail.

Music: Rhythmic, repetitive, gloomy piano.
