Fashion Flashback: Top Models of the 90’s
In the world of fashion, pretty faces come and go all the time. However, certain girls have the privilege of becoming legends both on and off the catwalks. Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Helena Christensen are three of those girls who managed to make it to the top, and stay there.
Throughout the 90’s FashionTV was at the front row capturing and cherishing these girls’ most glamorous moments. As part of FashionTV’s 15th Anniversary Celebration, we invite you to relive these fabulous moments once again.
Back in the 90’s, top models Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Helena Christensen walked on every prestigious catwalk. More than a decade later, FashionTV brings you some of the best and brightest moments that these three divas had to offer.
As a young model, Claudia Schiffer was constantly compared to the great Brigitte Bardot. These constant and accurate comparisons led way to successful campaign, stunning editorials, and magical moments on the catwalks of the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and Valentino. Throughout her career, the German-born supermodel appeared on the covers of over 700 fashion magazines.
According to Schiffer, she is “one of those lucky people that can connect work with pleasure and fun.” Claudia Schiffer truly earned her spot as a global fashion icon.
Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s, Naomi Campbell was the most famous black model and one of the most recognizable faces in the world. The stunning British model was scouted at the age of 15, and quickly made her way to the top of the fashion world. She has walked on the catwalks of countless prominent designers, posed for the world’s most renowned photographers, has appeared in movies and videos, and even appeared nude in Madonna’s controversial book, “Sex.” One of Campbell’s most memorable catwalk moments was when she fell flat on the runway during a Vivienne Westwood show.
However, this tumble didn’t change the fact that she was still one of the greatest models of the nineties. Plus, those foot-high platform shoes she wore at the show were later displayed at a museum in London, and iconized, much like her.

From then on, Christensen has reached several more peaks in her modeling career, including, the title of Victoria’s Secret Angel, a billboard of her hung in the midst of Times Square, and an appearance in Chris Isaak’s music video for his song “Wicked Game”, that was later ranked #4 on VH1’s “50 Sexiest Video Moments” list.
However, Christensen’s career didn’t end in the 90’s, as she’s starred in more than a few campaigns in the past couple of years, including ones for Rag & Bone, Triumph, Reebok, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ermanno Scervino. Helena Christensen was and continues to be one of the world’s greatest supermodels.
