Fashion Roundup: Rihanna Topless and Blonde, Beckham Covers Elle, and What Is Beyonce Wearing!?
English footballer David Beckham poses for the cover of Elle UK, dripping wet and shirtless. The Los Angeles Galaxy star, who will also play for England at the 2012 Olympics this summer, will be the first-ever solo guy cover model for the magazine. (Fashionista)
Kanye West built a pyramid for the premiere of his short film ‘Cruel Summer’ at Cannes. West explained on his website that “the pyramid’s canopy is hemmed to open up a panoramic backdrop of Cannes and the Mediterranean while creating an effect of levitation above the red carpet.” The pyramid is already booked to make its way around the world from New York to Qatar. Kelly Clarkson thinks that fashion and music don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand. “No way in hell someone is going to convince me to wear that on stage” says Clarkson. The former Miss American Idol refers to the pressure that female musicians face to look a certain way, “sometimes I turn on awards shows and pop stars are wearing alien costumes.” (the gloss)
Millward Brown Optimor has conducted their annual release of the Top 100 most valuable brands. Louis Vuitton ranked first as the top most valuable luxury brand for the seventh consecutive year, valued at $25.9 billion. Other luxury brands on the list are Hermes ($19B) and Rolex ($7.17B). (Vogue UK)
Closing our list of fashion highlights for this week, here is footage from Beyonce’s live performance at Revel Ovation Hall as she pays tribute to the late Whitney Houston by singing “I will always love you” as an intro to her song “Halo.” But what truly caught our eye was the ridiculous red “ice skating” costume she wore… those aren’t really the curves you want see from the amazing singer, who recently lost 27kg after her pregnancy.
