Fifi Awards: The Smell of Success
The annual Fragrance Foundation’s Fifi awards are given to the best perfumes. Tom Ford, Gucci, Heidi Klum, and Justin Bieber were the big winners, but what about Beyonce?
This awards ceremony is not as well known as the Oscars, but the Fifi awards are no less important. The annual Fragrance Foundation awards are given to the year’s best perfumes and new scents. This year Tom Ford’s Violet Blonde won the Fifi for women’s best luxury fragrance. Gucci’s Guilty Pour Homme fragrance won as the best luxury cologne for men.
Supermodel Heidi Klum was also one of the candidates this year, and her signature scent managed to rise above many other celebrity fragrances. The former Victoria’s Secret Angel snubbed the Fifi award for the Broad Appeal Women’s category for her debut fragrance, Shine. No doubt, Klum did shine on the red carpet and gave one of her huge smiles when she was announced as the winner. The 38 year old Klum managed to beat out fellow celebrity competitors such as Christina Aguilera (for Royal Desire) and Fergie (for Outspoken Intense).
Pop star Justin Bieber was also honored at the Fifi awards. The 18 year old singer took home the prestigious Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year award for his debut fragrance, Someday. Last year it was Fergie who won the honorable award for her Avon scent, Outspoken.
"I'm honored to be named the Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year”, said Bieber during his acceptance speech via telecast. "It means a lot to me that my fans and The Fragrance Foundation support all of my accomplishments. The best part is that my favorite charity is sharing in the success.”
However, not everyone left the Fifi awards with a prize in their hands. One of the evening’s great disappointments was Beyonce and her Pulse fragrance that failed to win. Apparently the great scent of Pulse didn’t make the loss any easier for the pop star.
