Ginta Lapina- The Latvian beauty on the rise | FashionTV's Model of the Week
The fashion industry is not just about the lights, cameras, catwalks and the fancy backstage makeup rooms. Becoming a notable model is hard work, which demands a lot of patience, faith and luck. FashionTV gives you a close look on the new and most interesting models the fashion world has to offer.
Promising model Ginta Lapina was born in Riga, Latvia on June 30, 1989. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. When she is not on the runway Lapina likes to listen to music, play volleyball, swim and sleep a lot. Gita describes herself as having parental qualities, she would like to have two kids and a dog and believes she will be a pretty cool mom.
Her height is 1.78 meters and her measurements are 32-24-34 US. She is most famous for her metallic blond hair.
The Latvian beauty started her professional career in 2005, featuring almost immediately in high profile editorials such as Teen Vogue and making quite an impact on the teen modeling industry. In 2008, just after three years in the commercial field, she begun her transition towards high-fashion modeling signing with Women Management. Her transition was more than successful (to say the least), landing Fall 2009 shows with Dolce & Gabbana, Vivienne Westwood, Miu Miu and YSL.
From then onwards, Lapina has been a face that could hardly go unnoticed, receiving popular campaigns and improving her position in the industry year after year.
How was she discovered?
Ginta Lapina was discovered while walking in the street when she was around 16 years of age. A model scout saw her and believed that she would become a rising fashion star. She now lives in New York and has become a 'city person', which is a big change for her.

First steps on the runway
Ginta Lapina made her way into the fashion industry in 2005. Two years later she debuted at the Spring Benjamin Cho show in New York. Top fashion designers noticed Ginta Lapina only after she walked for the Proenza Schouler brand in 2008.
Designers she worked with
From that point on Lapina’s modeling career skyrocketed. She walked for many top designers, including Prada, Dolce&Gabbana, Rodarte, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton and more.
Popular ad campaigns
Lapina stunned in many fashion major campaigns, among them for John Galliano, Marc by Marc Jacobs, DKNY and Yves Saint Laurent. Some of her most aspiring campaigns include working with David Sims for Sportmax, Mert & Marcus for Miu Miu, and Terry Richardson for YSL. Joe McKenna styled all of these three campaigns: "He knows exactly what he wants, and the images always look beautiful" says Ginta.
Fashion forward
Ginta Lapina is going to continue ruling the best runways during the upcoming seasons. Thanks to her perfect body figure, she can make every outfit look beautiful. This ignites designers’ fashion visions and makes it very easy to set new fashion bars every season. She has now signed to become the face for Jill Stuart Bare Petal spring 2012 makeup collection and is also appearing the Spring Summer 2012 Jean Paul Gaultier Campaign. We have no doubt – Ginta Lapina is one of the future’s top models.
