Kirsi Pyrhonen- The Finnish Model That Smiles All The Way To Her Next Goal | FashionTV’s Model of the Week

Posted on 7th September 2012 | Model of the Week

Kirsi Pyrhonen was born far away from the fashion spotlight in Espoo, Finland. Her great body figure, height, cheekbones, and irresistible eyes made her perfect to become a professional model. And she dreamed about it, too.

In order to launch her career, she left Finland, signed with Viva models in London and almost immediately started living her dream. This all happened two years ago, in 2010. Nowadays Pyrhonen holds a rich resume that includes fashion productions, photoshoots and many runway shows.

Rocking the Runway

Kirsi Pyrhonen took her first steps on a professional runway when she was 17 years old. The Finnish model opened the Ann-Sophie Black show during London Fashion Week Fall 2010. At the same fashion week, she also opened and closed Christopher Kane's runway collection.

Models scouts couldn't ignore Pyrhonen's unique look and immediately booked her for the Prada fashion show as an exclusive during Milan Fashion Week. Following Milan Fashion Week Fall 2010, the young model also got a chance to present on the catwalks of Haider Ackermann, Loewe and Givenchy during Paris Fashion Week.

Once the Fall Fashion Week season was over, Models.com featured Pyrhonen as one of the Top 10 Newcomers in the fashion industry. The Finnish models' star status continued to rise as she walked the Fall 2010 Valentino couture show and achieved another great goal before her 18th birthday.

The next fashion week season was also very successful for Pyrhonen. She walked the Spring 2011 Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Chloe and Hermes shows in New York and Paris fashion weeks.

At the beginning of 2011, Kirsi Pyrhonen walked the Valentino couture fashion show again.

Cover Girl

In 2010, just after Models.com featured her, the model got her first fashion magazine cover. In this fashion production, young Pyrhonen posed for Steven Meisel during a cover shoot for the Italian Vogue.

Five months later in October 2010, Pyrhonen was photographed by Sharif Hamza for the cover of Dazed & Confused. In December of that year, she was featured on the cover of Tush magazine.

At the beginning of 2011, she landed on her forth fashion magazine cover. This time it was the cover of the pre-spring edition of i-D magazine.

Ad Star

During her modeling career, Pyrhonen got the chance to star in a few ad campaigns for top fashion designers. Her first campaign was for the Fall/Winter 2010 collection of Balenciaga. At this fashion production she was photographed by top fashion photographer Steven Meisel.

In 2011, she got two big advertising campaigns. Top designer Marc Jacobs chose Pyrhonen for the new face of his prestigious label. In addition, she modeled for the Fall 2011 Celine ad campaign.

Kirsi Pyrhonen's recent campaign was for O'2nd, photographed by Tim Walker. At this fashion production she modeled for the brand's Summer 2012 collection.

Fashion Forward

Kirsi Pyrhonen is one to watch on the catwalk. She’s had a successful career for just two years now, and it will be very interesting to see if she will grace the catwalks during the upcoming fashion week season. With cheekbones and gorgeous eyes like hers, it is almost a certainty that we will enjoy her presence on the catwalk for many more seasons to come.
