London Fashion Week: Bora Aksu Show Review
Now in his 10th year showing at London Fashion Week, Turkish designer Bora Aksu amped up his game with a Twenties-inspired collection for Fall 2013-14. Scroll down for the video.
For Fall 2013-14, the Bora Aksu woman will resonate the style of Twenties dance-duo and notorious gamblers, ‘The Dolly Sisters.’ But, like all things Aksu -- with a contrasting twist.
The London-based designer showcased his hyper-luxe collection on the first day of London Fashion Week, and set the standards a cut above the rest.
Models took to the catwalk in neutral and camel tones whilst silhouettes encompassed Aksu’s modern take on the classic flapper dress, pencil skirts, and corsets. Playing with fabrics and textures, dresses were artfully sculpted, and mixed leathers with chiffon, fur with knits and beautifully crocheted headpieces.
Gradually, the collection saw injections of pink, purple, and greys, while masculine and feminine elements were mashed together to create some of Aksu’s more unique looks.
The models' hair was slicked back and parted in the middle with a beautiful braided knot to form a sleek up-do.
