Look at the London Ladies GO: Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham and More
In preparation for London Fashion Week, FashionTV takes a look at the top British ladies doing the fashion rounds, keeping you in the London loop before round two of fashion week begins.
Bright, Digital, Edgy - Is the Duchess Ditching the Brits?
Prabal Gurung made his predictably magnificent moment at New York Fashion Week just a few days ago, with his oh-so-cool and colorful, Spring 2013 collection as it hit the runway. Gurung’s back in the headlines, as pictures hot off the press show none other than Kate Middleton, sporting an exquisite purple print Prabal Gurung dress from the Spring 2012 collection, on the Diamond Jubilee tour. A fine salute to the Singapore-born designer who only started designing 3 ½ years ago!
The silk-blend shift was a wonderful choice for the Duchess, as she stepped out for the first day of a nine-day tour of South Asia and Pacific, starting with a visit to Singapore. The bright, edgy, digital print dress will be just one of many eye-catching numbers to dazzle, but sadly, that means Middleton might not have time to attend this season’s London Fashion Week shows. Not to worry! We’re sure her sister, Pippa, will be there to represent the Middleton fashion team!
Victoria Beckham chose New York over London
While daughter, Harper Seven Beckham, has been “storming” the catwalk practicing her toddler moves -- Victoria tweets -- London’s got other questions on their mind... Like why VB chose to show her collection in the Big Apple instead of London? Speaking in an interview with the New York Times, Beckham said:
“For me, I lived in America, although I am British-born and my aesthetic is British,” she answers. “But I admire U.S. brands, and I wanted to follow the U.S. model. It seemed like the right thing to do.”

Nonetheless, the Brits still seem proud of her monumental design prowess, as the presentation of her second line, Victoria Victoria Beckham (handmade in London) in the Meatpacking District not only earned her critical acclaim, but had the likes of fashion guru, Anna Dello Russo claiming it was in her list of top picks! Stay tuned to FashionTV to see if the lovely Beckham will be turning up to support London Fashion Week S/S 2013!
Alexa Chung at Marc Jacobs
A name non-Brits are seemingly becoming more familiar with, British TV presenter, model, and contributing editor at Vogue, Alexa Chung, was caught front-rowing and canoodling backstage at Marc Jacobs show this New York Fashion Week. Chung, who frequently hits the best-dressed list, has had a sell-out Mulberry bag named after her -- the “Alexa” -- and recently announced she will be starting her own fashion line. Earlier this year the British Fashion Council appointed Chung as their Young Style Ambassador, and true to her word, she has been keeping the British labels alive in New York this season, donning her design faves Christopher Kane, Mary Katrantzou, and Erdem.
Susanna Lau of Style Bubble Has A Huge Following
If you didn’t already know, this British blogger is a top favorite to follow, and is set to be making appearances at ALL the fashion weeks. Susanna Lau of Style Bubble, or Susie Bubble as many call her, has a big cult following in London. She is an easy front row favorite to spot, usually dressed in loud color combinations, and outfits of many details, texture, and knits.

Particularly in New York, Susie turned some heads wearing a macrame number, by JW Anderson from his S/S 12 menswear collection. Susie openly admits she turns to Anderson time and again when choosing what to wear. Follow her Style Bubble blog here, and follow her at London Fashion Week.
Where’s Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Devonshire darling and Victoria’s Secret Angel, didn’t make a show at this New York Fashion week, as she is busy launching her lingerie range for British brand M&S, and is currently filming action movie, “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The supermodel turned up in super style last London Fashion Week, front-rowing at Burberry.
Considering we've seen Kate Moss, Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, and Lana Del Rey turn up in the past, we're crossing our fingers for a stellar show of ladies at London Fashion Week’s front row.
