Posted on 6th April 2012 | Model of the Week

Walking in countless top shows, appearing in Lanvin's S/S 2012 ad campaign– the beautiful Marte Mei van Haaster has definitely gained her spot as our model of the week!

As a young girl, Marte Mei van Haaster never dreamed of becoming a model, much less one of the fashion industry’s rising stars. She studied fashion and textile design, and always preferred creating as opposed to modeling.

However, at the age of seventeen, van Haaster was scouted on the streets of her native Amsterdam. At first, it wasn’t easy for her to land jobs, but at the age of nineteen, she began to book countless runway gigs and shoots, and her modeling career instantly skyrocketed.

Rocking the Runway

The Spring 2012 shows were a true turning point for the Dutch model. During the spring shows Marte Mei van Haaster walked for Givenchy, Chanel, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, and even closed for Celine and opened for Acne. After walking on these prestigious runways, her status was instantly elevated.

At the end of Fashion Week season, van Haaster was asked what she learned from the experience… Her answer? She learned how to deal with disappointment and how to focus on the positive and be thrilled about the future.

First Face Models

A few months after her spectacular debut, designers, editors, and journalists across the globe became aware of Marte Mei’s undeniable presence. During Fashion Week, van Haaster walked on 51 runways, opened 6 shows, and closed 4.

Ad Star

In her short career, fashion photographer Steven Meisel shot Marte Mei for the Lanvin Spring 2012 campaign, alongside Aymeline valade and other top models. She was also shot for the brand’s video campaign.
