Reputation: A secretly sketching artist!
Fashion Fact: Naomi’s drawing have featured in Vogue.com, Harper's Bazaar Argentina, the Telegraph's Stella magazine and the Harvey Nichols spring/summer 2012 look book -- to name but a few.
With her grandmother an artist and father an architect, it’s no wonder that Argentinian belle Naomi P was encouraged to take up artistry from a young age. And happy the fashion world are too. As Naomi has turned out to be an extraordinary talent in her own right, and is often caught backstage at fashion shows; sketchbook in one hand and paint brush in the other, capturing the runway looks and models behaviour in her own vibrant eyes. Even Jean Paul Gaultier owns the watercolour she did of him and Beth Ditto!
But Naomi first built her reputation in the fashion world as a model. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the blonde-haired beauty was scouted by a model agent at the age of 14, but decided to take up modeling professionally after completing her studies.
Naomi’s breakthrough came after she moved to New York, where she signed with Premier. And has since modeled for the likes of Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander Wang, and Balenciaga amongst others.
Her severe gaze and distinguishable features have twice-graced the cover of Argentine Harper’s Bazaar, while her beauty, fashion, and art editorials include Vogue Russia, Pop magazine, Italian Elle, i-D magazine, Muse, Dazed & Confused. Most recently, Naomi was captured sporting a number of casual looks for Nasty Gal’s online November 2012 lookbook.
Speaking in an interview with the Telegraph, Naomi explains that painting and drawing backstage, has been a means to keeping her spirit and balance in life, and away from always being the picture in the frame.
With each catwalk season, Naomi is not only walking for top designers, she ia also being commissioned by top glossies to draw and paint backstage for editorials and even the dsigners and models themselves! Due to high demand, Naomi even has her very own website featuring her art projects. And we’re sure the future holds bigger and brighter fashion works for the elegant and exotic model.
