No More Gaga? No More Porno? Nicola Formichetti Says Goodbye To Mugler

Posted on 5th April 2013 | Celebrity

We’ve seen Lady Gaga in his shapely designs, Kim Kardashian donning his future-forward silhouettes, and caught a glimpse of his porno-campaign film. But after two years as creative director, Nicola Formichetti, has announced his departure from Mugler.

And though it may have been a short-lived affair with the French fashion house, the Italian-Japanese designer has left us with lots to talk about. So, Formichetti... Here are your “Matchless Mugler Moments.”

Lady Gaga's Catwalk Debut

Mother Monster may have racked up her fair share of catwalk moments over the past few years, but it all began with Mugler, when in 2011, Gaga debuted on the runway at Paris Fashion Week for Nicola Formichetti’s first showcase at Paris Fashion Week. A claim to fame that the designer can hold dear to his heart. Check out Gaga perform in a smoking sheer top and figure-hugging leathers:

Taking Mugler to Xtube

Unless you didn’t know, Formichetti chose to get somewhat x-rated for his Spring 2012 menswear campaign, and may stand as the only designer ever to create a short fashion film embedded on the free porn site, Xtube. The film, “Brothers of Arcadia,” features provocative “Greek Gods” getting hot and steamy in a chamber.

Rita Ora’s Radioactive Mugler Wardrobe

Though many of the Mugler catwalk looks may not be so easy to pull-off from day-to-day that’s what we’ve got the celebs for! British Pop sensation and style icon Rita Ora opted for Mugler zebra print in her “Radioactive” music video, and if anyone can do Mugler, she can!

A Handbag Inspired by Gaga’s Ass

In every fashion house’s evolution, the launch of a handbag line is never a poor play. And for his Spring 2013 collection, Formichetti did just that. What's more, he revealed in an interview to WWD that one of his bag designs was inspired by Lady Gaga’s backside, or we like to think, her Body Revolution project that inspires women to look and feel good in whatever skin they live in!
