Sara Blomqvist – The Swedish Stunner With a Magazine Cover Before The Catwalk | FashionTV’s Model of the Week
Swedish model Sara Blomqvist landed her first fashion magazine cover before she even set foot on a runway. But she’s been a fixture on both the covers and the catwalks ever since. That’s why Sara Blomqvist is FashionTV’s Model of the Week.
Sara Blomqvist may have been born in Sweden but has managed to conquer London, Paris, Milan and New York since the age of 18. Less than two years after her debut appearance, she was already the face of Armani Jeans, D&G, collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld, Vuitton, Kenzo and Missoni, and had appeared in many top fashion magazines.
Rocking the Runway
Sara Blomqvist made her debut during the London Fashion Week Spring 2007 season. The young model walked for Christopher Kane, Nicole Farhi and Jonathan Saunders. During the same season she walked as an exclusive for Prada at Milan Fashion Week.
Early in 2008, two major fashion sites marked Blomqvist as the next best thing on the catwalks. First Hintmag.com pointed out Blomqvist as a rising star. Shortly after, Models.com featured her as one of the Top Ten Newcomers.
During Fall 2008, the Swedish model opened for Christopher Kane, Armand Basi and Barbara Bui fashion shows in London and Paris Fashion Weeks. She also opened the Peter Jensen fashion show for Spring 2009 at London Fashion Week and closed the Armand Basi and Kenzo shows in London and Paris.
Between 2009 to 2011, Blomqvist got to work with the world’s most notorious fashion designers. She opened and closed shows for Missoni, Ungaro, Miu Miu, Sportmax, Dries van Notten and others. In addition, the Swedish model walked for leading fashion labels like Prada, Chanel, Valentino, Versace, Oscar de la Renta, Louis Vuitton, Karl Lagerfeld and many more.
Sara Blomqvist was ranked on FashionTV’s First Face Countdown for Paris Fashion Week during the Fall 2012 runways last season. During the week-long event, she opened the Guy Laroche show and also walked for Rue du Mail and Chloe.
Cover Girl
Shortly after Sara Blomqvist signed with Viva management in Paris (2007), she landed her first magazine cover. The 18-year-old Swedish bombshell was on the cover of “Plastique” before she even stepped on a professional stage.
Her second magazine cover came only in April 2010. She was photographed for the cover of “Intermission Magazine”.
Apart from those magazine covers, Sara Blomqvist starred in many editorials. Magazines such as i-D, W, Vogue (Italian, French and Russian editions), Numero, Another Magazine, Muse and others included her in their editorials.
Ad Star
Blomqvist’s first ad campaign happened in 2008 for Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti. One year later, she was announced as the new face of Armani Jeans. Photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott were behind the cameras and created an amazing campaign.
In 2009, Blomqvist was chosen as one of the faces of D&G.
In 2010, Blomqvist was announced as the face of Missoni, and in 2011 she posed for photographer David Sims as the new face of Valentino.
Fashion Forward
Sara Blomqvist lists running as one of her hobbies. It looks like she’s become a long distance runner, where modeling is concerned though her success wasn’t immediate, she continued to climb and now works with the “crème de la creme” of fashion designers. We believe her contracts and collaborations will keep her busy during fashion week seasons for many more years to come!
