Sex Appeal and Great Fashion - Milan Men’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013
They say there’s nothing sexier than a good looking Italian man wearing a perfect Italian suit or casual outfit. The upcoming Milan Men’s Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2013 will allow us the chance to test this theory. Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Versace, Ferragamo, Roberto Cavalli, Prada and Dsquared2 are just a few of the luxury designers making this upcoming fashion week incredibly sexy.
Once the London Collections for menswear are over, all eyes are turned to the next fashion station – Milan Men’s Fashion Week. While some top brands present “conservative” fashion such as classic suits, others tend to get a bit wilder. The result – a diverse, colorful and very curious fashion show.
There is a significant difference between fashion for Winter and fashion for Spring. While Winter 2012/2013 collections used dark motifs and deep Fall colors, it will be very interesting to see how Italian designers bring back the color, light and summer spirit into their new collections.
Dolce & Gabbana
Last year, Italian design duo Dolce & Gabbana presented numerous classically tailored Italian suits on the runway. According to Stefano Gabbana, social networks were the inspiration for the whole show. The Spring 2012 collection demonstrated the intricate use of net in every garment and accessory seen on the runway. Noah Mills and Adam Senn were among the top male models opening the show, wearing suits that have defined the Dolce & Gabbana name for a generation. Will the Spring 2013 collection continue the trend?
Unlike Dolce & Gabbana, Donatella Versace chose to present a more intense and colorful collection last year. During her Spring 2012 fashion show for men, there were constant "pops" of bright blue, green, yellow and pink. Gladiator sandals in patent cobalt blue were featured as well, but definitely the most outstanding performance on stage was the moment top model Francisco Lachowski came out dressed entirely in red.
Missoni used its Spring 2012 show as a welcoming nod to the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London. Apart from the eye-catching collection, there was a special homage for the single blue jersey tracksuit designed in 1948 by Tai Missoni himself. Its latest reincarnation as the "New Suit" was the basis for Missoni's Spring 2012 Men's collection. Since the Olympic Games are just around the corner, it will be interesting to see if Missoni will refer to them once again.
After glimpsing the designer infused schedule this season, we can say one thing is certain--this Milan Men’s Fashion Week is going to be a great combination of high-end fashion, gorgeous male models and most importantly, lots of fun!
