Show Review: BCBG MAX AZRIA Kick Off New York Fashion Week
Cosy up and head East for Fall 2013-14, was the message from BCBG MAX AZRIA today as models took to the catwalk for the first full-scale show of the season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
Last year, designers Max Azria and his wife were all about color-blocking, geometric prints, and bright hues. This season, the story was a different, as patterns, sheers, leathers and winter tones adorned the models bodies. But one theme they did stick to... was plenty of fur!
The looks of Fall 2013-14 were whimsical and bohemian with an urban edge, as the collection was said to be inspired by the East, Istanbul architecture, and the eclectic style of Europe’s southern gypsies.
There was also an easy luxury about the collection showcased through the mishmash of layers from long tulle skirts over leather leg warmers to oversized coats adorned with big collars and hoods. Each of the transparent looks retained a warm element, whether it was from the overlaid coat or beanie that no model went without.
The color palette was warm and wintery, stretching from midnight blues, to olive greens, auburn, and chalky hues which transgressed into oxblood burgundy and black tones for the final looks.
Key elements from the show were sheers mixed with leathers, dresses over trousers, gypsy prints, and oversized fur shrugs. One of our favorite looks from the show was the two-piece, red leather-spliced skirt and top which was oozing boho-chic with an urban twist on model Mackenzie Drazan.
Hair was straight and sleek with nude makeup, and smokey eyes by Sephora. Stay tuned with FashionTV to see the full show.
