Spring 2012 Trends: Maxi skirts and Dresses

Posted on 19th February 2012 | Fashion Trends

Though miniskirts and short panties revealing long legs are considered sexy, this spring you might want to leave them in the closet. Maxi skirts and dresses seemed to be a number of our top designer’s favorite go-to clothing for this Spring. Stunning couture elite maxi gowns, gorgeous floral maxi skirts, flowey maxi dresses and many more variations of this fantastic floor-grazing style, will be the style to watch out for!

The great thing about the maxi trend is that you can match it with almost anything. Wear a sexy corset, a buttoned shirt or a loose-fitting top. Or maybe you decide to choose a simple tee accompanied with an over-sized necklace. Whichever you choose, you’ll look super trendy and fashionable. Add some flats and you’ve got yourself a comfortable yet sexy outfit for a day at the office, a night out with friends or a romantic date.

Valentino

Valentino’s couture maxi dresses are all about the floral. The flowey figure as well as the dress length creates a super elegant and romantic look. If you are looking for simplicity and luxury couture, Valentino is your answer.

Gaultier

The late singer Amy Winehouse was the inspiration for Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring couture collection. The maxi designs presented during the show were incredible. Some of them included large swollen coats or gowns, while others were super sexy and a bit translucent. One way or another, the maxi designs by Gaultier were avant-garde and sometimes looked larger than life...like the one and only Amy Winehouse.

Carolina Herrera

Refreshing gowns are one of fashion designer Carolina Herrera’s most talked about trademarks, in addition to her contemporary, classic woman appeal. In her Spring 2012 collection Herrera showcased maxi skirts and dresses, many of them in bright spring colors and geometric prints. The floor-grazing style never looked more beautiful, romantic, and so...ladylike.

Michael Kors

In Michael Kors’  “Afrilux” collection maxi dresses were partnered with a unique African twist. The top designer chose to present strapless loose dresses in hues of brown. The light fabrics looked perfect and created an outfit that exerted fresh and sexy.

Viktor & Rolf

Viktor & Rolf created some maxi designs which looked like they maybe should have been atop a wedding cake, but the duo designers left no place for questions – the maxi trend is here to stay.

Alberta Ferretti

Alberta Ferretti designed a few quite flattering maxi dresses for Spring 2012. An example of such is her green maxi dress that looked extremely comfortable but perfect for a get-dressed-up occasion. The emerald green is one of the most fashionable hues for the upcoming season. Ferretti succeeded in maintaining her signature Ferretti touch with all of her bold-colored slip dresses.
