The Magical Journey of Francisco Costa and Macy’s

Brazilian designer Francisco Costa is due to create a capsule collection for Macy’s under the name “Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein.” The collection is part of the department store’s efforts to benefit the Amazon Rainforest, “Magical Journey to Brazil”.

Jersey dresses designed by Costa at incredibly low prices to help save the rainforest? This is definitely what we call a win-win situation.

Francisco Costa is a very talented and award-winning Brazilian fashion designer whose claim to fame is holding the title of creative director at Calvin Klein. Although the Calvin Klein brand has designs that are being sold in retail shops such as Macy’s, Costa himself has never designed (or sold) an item for less than a top designer rate.

However, recently Costa was invited to take part in a curious fashion journey. The US chain department store, Macy’s, beckoned Costa to create a unique capsule collection for the shop in order to benefit the Amazon Rainforest. The “Magical Journey to Brazil” is part of Macy’s spring promotion to benefit the rainforest and Costa is one of the few Brazilian designers who was invited to create a collection in order to raise funds.

Costa’s collection will include jersey and crepe dresses with strong influences from the country of Samba, beautiful sunsets, and wild nature. The collection will be launched on May 15th and the dresses will be available starting from $135 to $180 under the “Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein” label. "This fresh, youthful line of dresses reflects both my roots and the modern, yet timeless, spirit of Calvin Klein”, said Costa to New York Magazine.
