Blizzards You Say? But, it's New York Fashion Week!
It’s Day 8 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The Nemo blizzards have come, gone, and left slushy entrances outside the Lincoln Center and Milk Studios, but no... not even record-breaking snowstorms are going to stop this fashion pack from enjoying New York’s offerings for Fall 2013-14. And here’s why...
Back to the Nineties at DKNY
It was vibrant, it was hip-hop, and it was full of fun as Donna Karan took us back to the Nineties for her Fall 2013-14 collection! With DKNY turning 25 next year, it was only natural that a little design nostalgia would creep into the designer’s look book. And it did. There were oversized coats, figure-hugging body cons (with new linear panelling details), and gorgeous color-blocking looks for the new season. And guess who opened the show? None other than fun-loving Brit Cara Delevingne, who totally rocked it. Check out the show below:
Carolina Herrera Hollywood Glamour
Her show read like a regal runway, with model Karlie Kloss flying straight from the Grammy’s to make it as the first face of the show, with Delevingne, Lindsey Wixson, and Jourdan Dunn following closely after. And what an elegant show it was. The Fall 2013-14 collection of floor-sweeping gowns and retro silhouettes came in a color palette of autumnal greens, aubergine, and shades of caramel -- and those matching mink details, made us seriously want do winter Hollywood glamour style. Sexy details came in the form of subtly exaggerated shoulders, keyhole cut outs and beautiful belts cinching in the waist. Our favorite look of the collection was the two-tone red gown. We wonder which celebrity will be the first to wear it on the red carpet?
Victoria Beckham Channels Capes Trend
First they appeared at the Paris Haute Couture shows, and now they have exploded onto the NYFW runways with a bang! That’s right, we’re talking about capes. And what better way to show how totally fashion forward she is, than Victoria Beckham integrating them into her new collection for Fall 2013-14. Taking the YSL le smoking jacket and running with it Beckham presented a strong case for her tailored designs, cutting them with a capelike slit sleeves and adding bespoke elegance to the new season's designs.
Seventies Glam Rock from Diane von Furstenberg
We have to say, there was a sigh of relief in the FashionTV offices, when we saw that the DVF models had left their google glasses at home. Because this season, von Furstenberg’s Fall 2013-14 collection was totally glam rock and gorgeous! The Seventies -vibe lookbook was all about the designers signature wrap dress, disco-ready catsuits, and animal motifs, which got us dreaming about her heydays partying away at Studio 54! We feel
