Wake Up This Friday To Berlin Fashion Week & Film Festival!!
The fashion week parade is well and truly underway! And though we waved goodbye to the Paris Haute Couture Fall 2013-14 shows only yesterday, there’s no fashion week blues for us, as we hop on the Eurostar and head over to the capital of culture, Berlin, for yet another fashion stop.
Believe it or not, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring 2014 is in it’s final days; and has been running in parallel with the Haute Couture lineup since Tuesday. But that doesn’t mean we’re going to leave it out!
After all, Berlin lies at the heart of a massive fashion, culture, and trend setting revolution and can boast having established and up and coming designers like Aquilo Rimondi and many more setting the style stakes for the new season. So let’s take a look at what’s been happening the past few days.
The week’s event’s kicked off with Laos-born designer Hien Le, who launched his debut collection for Spring 2011 during Berlin Fashion Week. Now, several seasons later and the “Best Newcomer” as titled by Sportswear International, presented a stellar collection for the Spring 2014 season. Looks came in neutral tones and powdered shades, with flowing fabrics and loose silhouettes resonating Le’s wearable designs abundant with elegance for both men and women.
Casual and Contemporary
Other noteworthy shows, included contemporary and minimalist fashion designer Marc Stone. Taking light fabrics as a starting point in his collection of menswear, Stone, presented a collection inspired by the jungle with various nature prints such as fossils adorning shirts, and a brown and grey palette reflecting the tones of the earth.
The week’s events have also seen fabulous shows from labels like Schumacher, Lala Berlin, and Kaviar Gauche present their Spring 2014 collections, attracting fashion editors, bloggers, and trendsetters to the front-row and backstage to report on all the hottest looks of the new season.
The week -- which is now in its 13th season -- has also been hosting Berlin Film Fashion Festival alongside the main event with a series of public screenings over three nights and including a short by Wes Anderson for Prada, and featuring names like Givenchy, H&M, Lana del Rey, and Eva Herzigova!
