Overview

Céline is a French luxury house founded in 1945 by husband-and wife duo Richard and Céline Vipiana. It originally started as a made-to-measure shoe company for children, and expanded in the ’60s to adult footwear, shoes, handbags, and couture women’s sportswear. After 40 years of leadership by Mdme. Vipiana, Michael Kors took the reins in 1997, succeeded by several designers, and today ex-Chloé visionary Phoebe Philo acts as head designer promoting strong, powerful, and modern design.
