Overview

In 1937, Hubert James Marcel Taffin de Givenchy was just 10-years-old when he went to visit the International Exposition dedicated to Art and Technology in Modern Life. And its lasting impression made him decide he wanted to work “somewhere in fashion design.” He started to study, designed for friends and family, and even worked alongside the then-unknown Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain. In 1952, Givenchy opened his own design store and was marked as one of the most innovative young fashion designers of his time. Among his most famous clients are Audrey Hepburn, for whom he designed almost every personal and professional wardrobe, Jacqueline Kennedy, Ingrid Bergman, and Grace Kelly.
