Overview
John Galliano was born in Spain and grew up in South London. As a young child Galliano never fit in. His flamenco-dancer mother would dress him in his “best” outfits, and he was both shy and different. He graduated from Central Saint Martins with a first class honors degree and soon started designing. After presenting a number successful collections in the ’90s, Galliano was appointed as chief designer at Givenchy in 1995, marking him as the first British designer to head a French couture fashion house. One year later Galliano began designing couture fashion for Christian Dior. In 2011, Galliano was suspended from the French luxury fashion house following the designer's arrest over allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris bar. Though a sad end to his celebrated career, no one can take away John Galliano’s innovative style, fabulous technical skills, and unforgettable catwalk shows from him.
