No one truly knows Lagerfeld's real date of birth. It's part of the Kaiser's mystery.

As a young designer, Lagerfeld used to consult with Christian Dior's fortune teller, who predicted he would become a successful name in the fashion industry.

In 1980, Karl Lagerfeld published his drawings in the fairy tale “The Emperor's New Clothes,” by Hans Christian Andersen.

Lagerfeld is also a talented photographer. His 2011 Pirelli Calendar photoshoot is recognized as being one of the best editions of the prestigious VIP calendar.

Though his fashion designs are unique and innovative, Lagerfeld himself wears almost only black and white outfits, and covers his eyes with black sunglasses.

Lagerfeld's comments on women's weight have caused him some trouble in the past. In 2010, Lagerfeld claimed that Heidi Klum was “simply too heavy,” and in 2012 he was quoted saying that British soulstress Adele is “a little too fat.” After being severely criticized, the German designer apologized and took back his words.
