Achille Maramotti had begun designing couture fashion garments since 1947. In 1951, he officially established the House of MaxMara. He was one of the first businessmen in fashion industry to understand that the future of fashion lay in the mass production of good quality, designer clothes. He also emphasized the MaxMara brand over the names of individual designers who were a part of his empire. Great names like Karl Lagerfeld and Dolce & Gabbana used to work for the Italian fashion house, but only under the brand's name. Today, MaxMara stands as a fashion empire that owns 35 labels, among them Sportmax, Max & Co, and iBlues.
