Overview

Sir Paul Smith wanted to be a racing cyclist. Due to a terrible cycling accident, he was forced to give up his sporting ambitions and became interested in fashion design. In 1970, Smith opened his first store, and after six years, presented his first menswear line under the Paul Smith label. His British designs for men, have become synonymous with classic British tailoring and style: with multi-colored stripes on collars and cuffs his signature mark. With the label’s increasing popularity so came expansion, and in 1998 Smith launched his first clothing line for women. Paul Smith has become a key figure of the British fashion industry, with 200 shops worldwide.
