Overview

Roberto Cavalli is famed for his flamboyant, rock, and animal print collections. As a young boy, he was fascinated by textile and prints which later transcended to his studies. When he was a fashion student, Cavalli designed a series of flower prints on knit, which brought him a lot of attention. In the early-1970s, Cavalli created a new and innovative way to print on leather and began using his technique on different materials. He presented his first collection in 1970, and virtually hasn’t stopped since. Cavalli opened his first boutique in Saint-Tropez, in 1972, which started the fashion empire that we recognise today; retailing in over fifty countries worldwide. The Cavalli signature is his use of animal print – especially leopard. Though the theme has remained over the generations, Cavalli still manages to create different looks and innovative designs from season to season.
