Overview

At the age of 27, Tom Ford decided to leave America to pursue his career as a successful fashion designer, and so moved to Milan, where he was appointed as the creative director at Gucci. His work at Gucci brought the Italian fashion house more successes than it had ever seen before, leaving him a stellar reputation as the man who turned the fashion house around. In 2004, Ford left Gucci to work as creative director at Yves Saint Laurent. Shortly after, Ford left YSL and established his own brand -- proving to the world that he can create his own successful collections as well as bring lots of fame to legendary and luxurious fashion houses.

Before fashion designing, Ford worked as an intern at the Chloé press office.

Ford's fashion creations take heavy inspirations from Studio 54, a New York nightclub of disco-era glamour.

Tom Ford is also a talented film director. In 2009, he directed the Oscar-nominated film, “A Single Man.”
