Karen Elson made her runway debut back in 1997, when she walked for Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Jil Sander, Alexander McQueen, Chloe and Hermes fashion shows in Milan and Paris. Just before these fashion week seasons began, Elson was convinced by photographer Steven Meisel to shave her eyebrows and dye her hair red for her first Italian Vogue cover. Apparently this decision of hers made her so popular on the catwalks that season.
During her career, Elson walked for some of the best fashion brands and designers. Prada, Versace, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Carolina Herrera and Victoria's Secret are just a short list of designers and brands who wanted Elson to present on their catwalks.
In 1997, Elson received her first ad campaign. It was a fragrance contract signed with Clinique's Happy. Since that campaign, Elson graced on many advertising campaigns all along her modeling career. She was photographed for Versace (1998), Chanel (1998; Karl Lagerfeld even called her “beauty of the millennium”), Burberry (2002), Louis Vuitton (2004), Yves Saint Laurent (2005), Prada (2005), Roberto Cavalli (2011), Lanvin (2011) and many others.
Apart from her modeling career, Karen Elson got married in 2005 to Jack White. The couple have two children. In addition to her kids, Karen LOVES shopping for unique vintage clothing.
