Upton mainly features in ad campaigns, magazine editorials, and covers. Since her modelling breakthrough in 2010, she has taken to the catwalk for two Beach Bunny fashion shows (2011, 2012).
Upton likes to pose in front of the camera, and fashion photographers and editors can’t help but fall for her cheeky charm. In 2010, Upton was announced as the face of Guess and the same year pictured for Dooney & Bourke’s Fall ad campaign. She has also featured in campaigns for Betsey Johnson and Beach Bunny. In 2013, Upton landed her first high fashion campaign for Sam Edelman footwear.
In 2011, Upton featured in the Victoria's Secret catalogue, but her true rise to stardom happened overnight. After appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimwear Issue in 2011, Kate was dubbed “Rookie of the Year,” and her barely there bikini became an international conversation starter. In fact, the Swimwear Issue was so hot that in 2012 and 2013 the all-American model was chosen to feature on the SI cover again. She is the only model chosen to be a covergirl back-to-back since Tyra Banks in 1996 and 1997.
She has since landed herself a GQ cover shot by Terry Richardson, an Esquire cover, her first profile in Vogue’s June 2012 Issue, featured in Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book, posed nude for Cosmopolitan‘s November 2012 issue, and made it to the front of British and Italian Vogue.
When she’s not making headlines for her raunchy videos (dancing to the Rej3ctz song, "Cat Daddy"), or running from photoshoots to fittings, Upton enjoys riding horses and spending time with her friends and family.
