De Brauw was discovered in her tender years, on the tram, after having been asked if she had ever considered a career in modelling. But how many 10-year olds have? Her six-year career entailed modelling in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium mainly in commercial and catalogue shoots. Which she decided to leave and focus on her studies. Thirteen years later and de Brauw’s breakthrough came in Paris, when she walked the runway alongside supermodel Gisele, for Balenciaga’s Spring 2011 collection. And today, her model appearances read like she’s a member of fashion royalty.
She was placed on the cover of French and Italian Vogue in the same month, in March 2011, and has graced the front of Vogue Japan and Netherlands, as well as having fronted i-D, Numéro, Purple Fashion magazine, V magazine (Spain), Love magazine, and most recently Vogue Germany’s November 2012, where she is captured looking sensational in Chanel Couture. Meanwhile, de Brauw is building herself a golden portfolio in the world of advertising.
Having fronted major campaigns like Givenchy eyewear, Versace Fall 2011, and Max Mara’s Fall 2012 campaign for the second consecutive season, de Brauw is now starring alongside Cara Delevingne for Chanel’s opulent Cruise 2013 campaign. But an artist first, de Brauw looks at the concept and picture of her editorials and ads, before she sees it herself; her humble and articulate attitude, simply adding to de Brauw’s allure and charm.
