Snejana Onopka's debut on a professional stage was back in 2005, when she closed the Spring Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion show in New York. She also opened the Dolce & Gabbana and the Karl Lagerfeld Spring shows. The same season, the new rising model walked for Prada, Gucci and Miu Miu.
Along her career, Onopka walked both in ready-to-wear and haute couture fashion shows. She managed to brighten the imaginations of fashion designers who wanted her to open their shows, or be the last model the crowd sees on stage.
Onopka became one of the most popular and wanted models. She opened and closed countless shows, including Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Dior, Elie Saab, Fendi, Missoni, Chloe', Sonia Rykiel, Alexander McQueen and many more.
The Ukraine beauty graced on fashion stages but basically she owes the beginning of her career to Steven Meisel. In 2005, Onopka posed for Meisel during photoshoots for Dolce & Gabbana and for Prada ad campaigns. Those were the first steps Onopka made in the fashion world, and until today she admits Meisel had a great influence on her career.
Onopka continued to sign campaign contracts. In 2006, she was photographed again by Meisel for Dolce & Gabbana and for Calvin Klein Jeans. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott photographed her for a Louis Vuitton campaign and Juergen Teller photographed her for Yves Saint Laurent. The same year Onopka also became the face of Lanvin.
2007 was a wonderful year for Onopka in terms of fashion campaigns. She signed a fragrance contract with Gucci and a cosmetics contract with Shiseido. Apart from that, she was photographed for Yves Saint Laurent eyewear.
During 2008, the Ukraine model became the face of MaxMara and was photographed by Mario Sorrenti for Hugo by Hugo Boss. After one year off, Onopka came back into the fashion industry in 2010 as the face of Gucci and as the star of Etro Fall campaign.
Snejana Onopka's favorite hobbies are playing tennis and singing. With the life long experience she has on stage, who knows, maybe she will have a second career, but this time we will get to hear her voice...
