NEW YORK - Backstage at Catherine Malandrino Fall/Winter 2012-2013, Morrocanoil Artistic Director Antonio Corral Calero created strong, stiff sleeked back hair for the presentation at New York Fashion Week with gloss, volume, and curved waves in the crown. "It has a 1980s inspired by," he says, "but we didn't want to do huge hair." The first thing they used was Moroccanoil treatment, which is the foundation of everything, Calero says. Volumizing mousse on top created the wetness after hair was flat ironed straight.
Designer Catherine Malandrino explains her collection inspiration to FashionTV. "This collection started, in fact, a long time ago. I had a movie in my mind," she says referring to the horror movie Cat People starring Natasha Kinski and directed by Paul Schrader. She calls the movie "La Feline" and wants to transform her 41 models into catwomen. This is done with the textured hair and thick gray eye shadow and liner to create cat eyes. "The idea of a transformation of a woman into a feline," she explains. She used fabrics like tulle and patent leather for a corseted silhouette that lines the body.
