Issey Miyake Fall 2012: Mineral Miracle with Steam-Stretch Techniques | Paris FW

Posted on: 7th March 2012, FashionTV Video Archive

PARIS - The theme of the Issey Miyake collection was "Mineral Miracle" to showcase the power of minerals and nature. Extremely fitting considering how many designers have popped up using the mineral and crystal theme in Paris. (Chanel anyone?) However, there was more innovation in store.
As the lights went up on the runway, the models were already in place at the Issey Miyake show during Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2012-2013. The audience clapped as the models walked along in their pleated and fabric dresses which were made using a textile called steam-stretch, a technology that uses steam to shape clothes made from a silk and stretch yarn combination. This pleating technique makes clothes using a steam process that can be programmed in advance and transforms a silhouette. Designer Yoshiyuki Miyamae called it "an instant technique." Wool coats, knits, and geometric prints rounded out the collection.
