TEL AVIV - During Laila Lavan or White Night in Tel Aviv, where shops, restaurants, and other venues are open way past their typical closing hour, many events went on throughout the city. One of the sought after events was the one at Bialik Square where French band Nouvelle Vague gave a free concert and French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac showed off his show The Dawn of Innocence. This collaboration combines opera, rock, theater, and models with dramatic eye makeup and slicked back hair. "You're going to see a concert where I did the construction, the cinematography, choose the song, which is telling about love and darkness. And a bit sexuality," says the designer. The singers wear blindfolds on stage. Nouvelle Vague takes something that people have been listening to and adds an element of fashion and art, the group says. The fashion show combines the print and graphic elements that JC De Castelbajac is known for and adds an element of darkness and drama in pure designer drama.
