NEW YORK - With colors like black and navy, it was hard to understand that the theme behind Olivier Theyskens' Theory collection for Spring/Summer 2012-2013 at New York Fashion Week was water. But really, this was a unique look at the trend that's making its mark on the NYFW this season. Theyskens said he was inspired by the deep blue sea, perhaps the cutting black waves or midnight blue currents we see at night time. Nevertheless, those pantsuits, jackets, and cropped pants came with a fluidity that can only be described as a water effect and when they were sharp (Theyskens was fixated on bold shoulders and pleats) they were still addictive as a midnight romp in the lake on a hot summer's eve. The blue beaded and sequined dresses, when they came in, were said to be inspired by jellyfish.
