Victorian Romance Meets Edgy London Style: Jean Pierre Braganza Fall 2012 - Fashion Week

LONDON - Most people haven't heard of Jean Pierre Braganza. He's not a household name like Peter Pilotto, Mulberry, and Topshop. That may change after watching this show. There's something about Braganza's Fall/Winter 2012-2013 that will speak to all parties--both the craftsmanship and the consumer appeal were on par with the very best of London designers today. While the collection was very Victorian and romantic by classic couture standards, it was also very urban and edgy by London standards. The Victorian theme came through in high collars, structure, oversize sleeves, cinched waists, and pencil skirts that hit bellow the knee. Then again, there were gilded jackets with shearling, purple graphic prints, and panels in skirts had a sculpture, making it appealing to both luxe jacquard wearing, classically-inclined stylistas and those who want to experiment. Looks like Braganza is going to be big!
